The funding ‘envelope’ for dispensing GP fees in England has fallen by 17.5% in real terms over the past decade (to 2025/26) and has failed to keep pace with inflation and rising costs, according to the Dispensing Doctors Association (DDA).
The association’s analysis also found that the average dispensing fee in real terms fell by 23.4% over the same period, from £2.06 to £1.58.
