Social, economic and health inequalities can seriously impact on peoples’ health and wellbeing, and two areas of focus for the NHS are improving outcomes of patients with cancer, and cardiovascular disease. However, these communities also experience high levels of other diseases.

This is why many of the examples in this report take a broad approach to
addressing health inequalities, one aspect of which is addressing late cancer diagnosis and another is to improve diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
